Bergen, Norway – REDINN proudly took part in the OXIPRO project’s Grand Finale, marking the successful conclusion of four years of cutting-edge European research into sustainable enzyme-based innovations. As leaders of Work Package 7 on Communication, Dissemination and Social Awareness, and Task 6.2 on Social and Economic Sustainability including Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA), REDINN played a central role in shaping the project’s legacy.
During the meeting, Giorgia Liberati energized the Early Career Researcher session with a flash talk linking enzyme innovation with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), underlining the importance of making sustainability measurable from the outset.
Lesley Tobin, WP7 Lead, highlighted OXIPRO’s contributions to policy, industry, and public engagement—particularly supporting the Safe and Sustainable by Design framework, tackling enzyme classification under REACH, co-authoring FNR-16 Cluster policy briefs, and developing OXIPRO’s suite of communication tools including its website, podcasts, and factsheets.
Lesley also joined the Bergen street survey team, engaging the public in conversations about sustainability and everyday biotech—exemplifying the project’s commitment to bridging science and society.
REDINN CEO Leonardo Piccinetti reflected:
“OXIPRO is a model for how European research can link innovation, regulation, and public dialogue. We’re proud to have helped turn that into a story people can follow—and a legacy we can build on.”
Thank you.
