REDINN Advances Market Insights During Se4All Secondment at UAB

On June 10, 2025, the REDINN team participated in secondment activities at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) under the Horizon Europe–funded Se4All project, contributing to Work Package 4 (WP4), specifically Task 4.3: Consumption Patterns and Market Survey.

The session, hosted by UAB’s interdisciplinary research group, aimed to deepen the project’s understanding of how consumers perceive, value, and engage with functional foods — particularly selenium-enriched dairy products developed through Se4All’s innovation model.

REDINN’s representatives:

  • Leonardo Piccinetti, and
  • Donatella Santoro,

joined researchers to assess methodologies and cross-cultural differences in health-related consumption behaviours. The team worked on aligning data collection tools with Se4All’s overarching goals in sustainable nutrition, biofortification, and functional food market readiness.

Key areas explored included:

  • 🛒 Current trends in functional food consumption
  • 📊 Development of a comparative market survey framework
  • 🌎 Regional differences in consumer awareness of selenium
  • 💬 Strategies for connecting scientific innovation with social demand

This activity is part of REDINN’s broader role in ensuring that research outcomes from Se4All are designed with user insight and commercial relevance at the forefront.
